How we explored the subject
Subject : How to improve traveling experience for families with a mobile
app?
First, each member of the team did a mindmap according to the
subject. It was helpful to have ideas on it.
Here are the links to our mindmaps:

Glitch
In the glitch, we gathered together our data on the subject, through our
mindmaps.
Then, we discussed with the team about 2 applications we would like to
implement.
For each idea, we answered simple questions such as What, Which
service, Why, For Who... to guide us in our application, to know what we
are really going to target.
Our service
Our application would be an application to create a day planner for
families on vacation. The activities and places to discover are listed
according to each place. Parents will be able to integrate them directly
into their planning. The days can be organized one by one.
The children will be able to see the schedule without being able to modify
it, they will be able to select the things they want to do and propose
them to their parents.
The context of the creation
It's an application to plan family activities, the time when things are
going to be done in a day.
Every member of the family can take part into the planning if the
holidays.
Children generally don't have a say in what activities they go on
vacation. This application will then allow them to recommend places to
their parents based on the things they like to do and would like to
discover. Parents will then be able to take their children's wishes into
consideration and venture into new things!
Our targets
The first are the parents who have children since they are the main users
of the application, they are the ones who plan the days and decide whether
or not something can be done, whether or not they are going to do this
activity according to their budget or the age of their children, whether
it is suitable or not.
The second target are children who are old enough to own a phone and
understand the application, i.e. children between 12 and 18 years old.
There will be possible interaction between the parents and the child. The
child will be able to recommend places to their parents.

Yuggler,
Description of the mobile app.
Yuggler is an app for parents, grandparents & caregivers to find kids
activities, things to do for families and fun places near your current
location or travel destinations.
It is linked to our project because you can find activities to do
for families but you can't plan the days and take into consideration
what the children might say.
Jorte Calendrier,
Link of the website of the mobile app
it is an app which permits to plan activities while being fun and
interactive because it is customizable. It is linked to our project
because it allows to create a planning for holidays but also because
since it is very interactive it can be used by families. However what
differentiates it, is the fact that it is not specially made for the use
of all the family and for children.
Familiy wall,
Link of the website of the mobile app
It is an application made to create organization in the families with a
shared planning , to do list… However contrary to our project it is much
more made for the daily life than for holidays.
The mockup of our mobile app
The design
Here is the link to our
Mockup
This is the menu of the application, once that every member of the family
is connected, you can choose your profile.
First scenario : a parent is using the application
The parent can:
- Create his planner
- Search activities
- See his children's list of activities
Second scenario : a child is using the application
The child can:
- See the planner of his parents
- Search activities
- Create a list with his favorite activities
Here are the links to our User Tests:
User test 1
User test 2
User test 3
We carried out 3 different tests with 3 people, 1 mother, 1 young adult
and a teenager.
First, we asked what they thought of the application in general: its
design, if the application is suitable for children between 12 and 18
years old, if it is easy to understand and use.
In a second step, people were free to give us their overall opinion on
the application, we were able to change a few things.
How to use the app
The app is made to be used by families. There are two type of profile on
the app. The parents profile and the kids one. The parents connect with
their email adress. Then they get to chose their destination, and then
they are able to search for activities to do and to add them to a planner
where they can also add other informations.
The parents can also see which activities are recommended by their
children since the children can alco connect to their profile with a code
given by their parents. The chilldren can, with their profile, enter their
preferences and then be recommended activities they can recommend to their
parents. They can also see their parents planner but they are not able to
modify it.
Technical details
-
Since our project is a mobile app, it must be coded in C or in Swift
for the appstore. Here is the link of a page explaining how to
choose betxeen both languages
Link
-
To be comptaptible with Android our application must also be coded
in Java or in Kotlin. Here is an article explaining the difference
between these two languages.
Link
-
Geolocalisation must be implemented to the app to know where are the
families nearby. Here is the link of a web page that explain how to
implement geolocalisation in an Android application.
Link
-
Possibility to use the app without connection to see the planner
-
The developped app must be easy to use and to understand as seen in
the mockup since it will be used by young children in age of having
a phone
-
We would like the mood of our application to be very
familiy-friendly. Thus we would like to use very warm coulours such
as orange for instance
For the application, here are some of the elements we used:
- Color orange : #E87433
- Color grey : #F2F0F0
- Fonts used : Abel, Roboto
- Icons : we used pictures in png found on the web

Vacances populaires, Pierre Perrier chapter 3.
Link of the website
This chapter is related to our topic because it highlights how hard
planning holidays can be. It underlines that for some families, going
on holidays happens hardly once a year and for that reason everyone
want it to be perfect and to please to everyone in the family. It also
shows us that at some point planning holidays can cause stress because
there is a fear of failing this unique moment of the year.

Link of the video
This video tells us about how we always plan to do things that we end
up not doing and what we are acting that way. It is related to our
project since our goal is to make families being able to plan things
and to actually do it during their holidays.
